children's cardigan 24 - raisinetts

This infant sweater is the real birthday cardigan, the notes sing out Happy Birthday. The cardigan has a back asymmetrical opening with 2 buttons. The gray lines on the front of the cardigan are knit in, the music notes can be either worked as you knit or worked with duplicate stitch after the cardigan is completed. Pattern included for matching hat.

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 2 and size 3 straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
size 3 or smaller double pointed needles or 4 stitch holders
or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

OTHER NOTIONS:

GAUGE:

28 stitches x 40 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 3 needles

SKILL LEVEL:

	Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.
