This is one of my favorite girls cardigan. The back and fronts are knit from side to side and the sleeves are knit the usual way. After completion the flowers are worked in cross stitch on pull-away canvas (we supply). Our flowers are worked in two shades of pink and a pretty chartreuse green for the leaves. We used the same shade of chartreuse for the garter stitch borders.  Another option is to sew purchased appliqué flowers randomly over cardigan.   Matching hat - pattern included   The cardigan is knit in Rowan's Classic Cashsoft dk

 

SKILL LEVELS FOR KNITTING
	Beginner	Projects for first-time knitters using basic knit and purl stitches. Minimal shaping.
	Easy	Projects using basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes, and simple shaping and finishing.

YARN:  Rowan - Classic Cashsoft dk             57% extra fine merino, 33% acrylic microfibre, 10% cashmere             50 grams - 142 yards     GAUGE: 24 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 5 needles;               or size needles to obtain the correct gauge     NEEDLES: size 3 and size 5 straight needles                  size 5 or smaller double pointed needles or 4 stitch holders                     NOTIONS: buttons 3/4" (see number of buttons below)                  pull-away canvas (free with purchase)                  3 colors of DMC 6 strand embroidery floss (2 shades for flowers and 1 green for leaves)                                                or                  at least 4 dozen small appliqués to sew on cardigan and hat )     CARE: machine wash, gentle cycle - lay flat to dry
