Sizes:
The finished size is controlled by the size of the bowl you use to block the wet felted hat. Choose a bowl that is slightly larger than the desired head circumference.

A pretty hat for cold weather. Hat is felted using 1 strand of Brown Sheep's Lambs Pride held together with 1 strand of Mountain Colors' Weavers Wool. Once you are successful with this felted hat you will want to make more.

YARN: Brown Sheep - Lamb's Pride Worsted
           85% wool, 15% mohair
           113 grams - 190 yards
  
           Mountain Colors - Weavers Wool 
           100% wool
           100 grams -350 yards
  
           Approximately 100 yards of a fluffy yarn (you might have something in your stash, or we will suggest
           a matching yarn)
  
GAUGE: WITH 1 STRAND OF LAMB'S PRIDE  AND 1 STRAND WEAVERS WOOL HELD TOGETHER
             10-12 stitches = 4 inches before felting in stockinette stitch on size 11 needles;
             or size needle to obtain the correct gauge
   
             When felting the gauge does not have to be exact, but:
             If your gauge is too tight the hat will not felt well
             if your gauge is too loose you may run out of yarn
 
NEEDLES: size 11 circular needle, 16 inches long
                 size 11 double pointed needles 
   
NOTIONS: tapestry needle
   
CARE: hand wash, place on bowl to dry

TO DETERMINE SIZE
 
Take a measuring tape and place it around the circumference of the head, slightly above the ears, with the tape held fairly closely to the head. Measure your head and then compare the measurement with the table below to find your size .
 
Finished hats are approximately 1" to 1.5" smaller than head circumference to allow for the stretch in knits.
