This is a very attractive easy to knit drop shoulder cardigan. The body is stockinette stitch with garter stitch and 2 x 2 ribbing for trim. The lower edge garter stitch is left open to form slits. A heavy worsted weight yarn will be perfect for this cardigan.

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important.

It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

NEEDLES:

size 7 and size 8 straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

OTHER NOTIONS:

6(6, 6, 7, 7) buttons—3/4 inch size

GAUGE:

17 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch on size 8 needles
