DESIGN DETAILS
Four unique cardigans were knit with the same pattern and using the same yarn. Imagine what you could create with a different color and trim for each. All the styles have a loose fit with 5 inches-(12.7 cm) positive ease.

Option A
- Round neck
- Applique trim on right shoulder and left lower sleeve
- Straight lower edge of sleeves
- Center front zipper closure
- All edges finished with a single crochet

Option B
- Round neck with Mandarin collar
- Crochet edges
- Purchased frog closures sewn along center front and at lower portion of sleeves
- Slightly flared lower edge of sleeves

Option C
- Round neck
- Straight lower edge of sleeves
- No center front closure
- Edges crochet and embellished with a decorative trim

Option D
- Elongated pockets with sequin embellishment
- Slightly flared lower edge of sleeves
- All edges are finished with a crochet ruffle

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN

- Bind-off
- Stockinette stitch
- Appliqueing cut out fabric onto cardigan for style A only—instructions included
- Inserting a zipper for style A only—instructions included
- Blanket stitch for style A
- Sewing frogs to cardigan fronts and sleeves for style B
- Pick-up and knit stitches for style B only (mandarin collar)
- Single crochet for all cardigans
- Double crochet for style D only (ruffle)
- Joining sleeve caps to cardigan—top bound-off stitches to tops rows of armhole
- Joining remainder of sleeve cap, side and sleeves seams row to row (mattress stitch)


Regardless of actual body measurements, everyone prefers a different finished look. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the chart below, which refers to this specific garment only. It can help your choose the look you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
Filitura Di Crosa—Zara
100% extra fine merino superwash
1.75 ounces-(
50 grams)       -        136 yards-(125 m) each ball

10(10, 11, 12, 13) balls

Note: size small finished cardigan weights 313 grams-(4 balls)

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- size 7-(4.5 mm) straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
- size G (4 mm) crochet hook

NOTIONS
A - separating zipper to fit center front (best to purchase after completion of cardigan)
    - .05 yard-(46 cm) decorative fabric for appliques
    - Heat-n-Bond Lite (sold at craft stores and amazon)
    - matching sewing thread
B - 6 fabric frog closures—approximately 4.5”-(11.5cm)
    - matching sewing thread
C - 1 ball (approximately 220 yards-(201 meters) of novelty yarn or trim
D - 1 package of clear sequins
    - 6 hooks and eyes-medium size
    - matching sewing thread

GAUGE
-19 stitches and 30 rows = inch on size 7 (4.5mm) needles in stockinette stitch
