YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
On-Line Yarns—Clip
100% Mako Egyptian Cotton
3.5 ounces-(100 Grams)      —     182 yards-(166 cm) each skein

6(7—8—9—9) skeins Main Color
1 skein Contrasting Color for trim

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- size 5-(3.75mm) and size 7-(4.5 mm) straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
- sizes 3-(3.25mm), 4-(3.5mm), 5-(3.75mm) and 6(4mm) straight needles for collar
- five size 7-(4.5mm) or smaller double-pointed needles to use to hold shoulders, back neck edge and left center front yoke.

NOTIONS
- gauge ruler
- ring markers
- yarn markers-small amount of a thin cotton yarn (number 10 crochet thread is great for yarn markers)
- tapestry needle
- seven buttons size - .75 inch-(20mm)
- There is an individual tracking sheet for each size to help you keep track of where you are in the pattern. Make any notes on the tracking sheet you might find helpful

GAUGE
- 20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 7-(4.5mm) needles

Note: The row gauges for seed stitch and garter stitch are not the same as for stockinette stitch, but when alternating squares of seed stitch or garter stitch with stockinette stitch are knit side by side they average to the stockinette row gauge.
