YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
Malabrigo Yarns—Lace Baby Merino
100% baby merino
1.75 ounces-(50 grams)    —    470 yards-(430m) each skein

4(4—5—5—5) skeins

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- Size 3 (3.25 mm) and size 5 (3.75 mm) straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

NOTIONS
- 12 double pointed needles size 5 (3.75 mm) or smaller to hold the flaps until needed—they all do not have to be the same size
- 24 point protectors or rubber bands for the ends of double-pointed needles
- Ring markers
- Tapestry needle
- Eight buttons size 5/8 inch (16mm)

GAUGE
- 28 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 5-(3.75 mm) needles
