TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close to possible as the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.
- Cast-on
- Bind-off
- Garter stitch
- Optional two row buttonholes using cable cast-on
- Pick-up and knit stitches


Regardless of actual body measurements, everyone prefers a different finished look. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the chart below, which refers to this specific garment only. It can help your choose the look you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
Rowan Yarns - Lima
84% baby alpaca—8% merino wool—8% nylon
1.75 ounces-(50 grams)
120 yards-(130.4 meters)

7(8 - 9 - 10 - 12) balls

For your cardiganr to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN


SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- Size 8-(5mm) and size 10.5-(6.5 mm) straight needles; or size needles to obtain the correct gauge

NOTIONS
- Gauge ruler
- Yarn markers - number 10 crochet thread in a contrasting color is great for yarn markers
- Tracking sheet- included with pattern
- Five double pointed needles, size 6-(4 mm) or smaller to temporarily hold stitches instead of stitch holders
- Point protectors help prevent stitches from slipping off the double-pointed needles
- Tapestry needle
- Five large decorative snaps—30mm
                     OR
- Five buttons—1.25 inch-(38 mm) size


GAUGE
- 16 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 10.5-(6.5 mm) needles
