DESIGN DETAILS
- Loose fit—approximately 5 inches-(12.7 cm) positive ease
- A classic Nordic ski cardigan inspired by Brunello Cucinelli at an Italian runway show
- Tacked on feathers and paillettes add glamour
- Round neck
- Zippered closure

 

PATTERN DETAILS - the easy to follow pattern includes:
- The lower body and yoke are worked back and forth on circular needles
- The sleeves are worked in the round on double pointed needles
- Schematic for each piece
- A separate helpful tracking sheet for each size
- Diagrams and full explanations for techniques, some with links to selected videos
- A link for substitute yarn

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close to possible as the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.
- Ribbing
- Stockinette stitch
- Stranded knitting
- Sleeves knitted in the round, on double-pointed needles
- Inserting a zipper
- Tacking on the feathers and paillettes


Regardless of actual body measurements, everyone prefers a different finished look. It is helpful to use the FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS, in the chart below, which refers to this specific garment only. It can help your choose the look you prefer.

YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
Brown Sheep Yarns—Lamb’s Pride Bulky
85% wool—15% Mohair
4 ounces-(113 grams) each skein
125 yards-(114.3 m) each skein

5 (5, 6,6,7) pull skeins Main Color-lightest color
1 pull skein Contrasting Color A-darkest color
1 pull skein Contrasting Color B-medium color

For your cardigan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

FOR A SUBSTITUTE YARN

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES
- size 8-(5 mm) and size 10-(6 mm) circular needles—40 inches-(101.6 cm) long
- size 8-(6 mm) and size 10-(8 mm) double pointed needles (set of five) or size needles to obtain the correct gauge
- size K-(6.5 mm) crochet hook
- two size 10-(6 mm) or smaller circular needle 16 inches (40 cm) or longer to temporally hold stitches

NOTIONS
- Gauge ruler
- One package of split ring markers
- Tapestry needle
- A separate tracking sheet for each size- included with pattern
- Separating zipper same length of center front (longer zipper can be shortened)
- Sewing thread to match yarn and a contrasting color to baste the zipper
- Approximately 24 palettes size .75 inch-(20 cm)
- A pproximately 36 feathers, random lengths (on sample longest is 6 inches-(15 cm)


GAUGE
- 13 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 10-(6 mm) needles
